About Us

The Ottawa Chief Pontiac Heritage Historic Society, founded in 2026 in Pontiac, Michigan, is dedicated to preserving the authentic history and cultural legacy of Chief Pontiac and the community that bears his name.

Our organization was established to protect and restore an important historic building in Pontiac that has remained vacant due to the significant cost of preservation and restoration. Rather than allowing this historic structure to continue to decline, the Society is working to transform it into a permanent heritage museum, educational center, and cultural gathering place for the community.

Through historical preservation, educational programming, cultural exhibitions, and community partnerships, the Ottawa Chief Pontiac Heritage Historic Society seeks to ensure that Pontiac’s history is preserved with integrity and shared with future generations.

By restoring this historic landmark and establishing a heritage museum, the Society aims to strengthen community pride, support local economic development, and honor the legacy of Chief Pontiac for generations to come.

We Are Pontiac
Central Alumni

OIP.webp

We are proud graduates and descendants of generations who attended Pontiac Central High School, a cornerstone of education and community in the City of Pontiac. For decades, Pontiac Central brought together families from every neighborhood, creating lifelong friendships, traditions, and a deep sense of pride in our city. Many of us are second-, third-, and even fourth-generation alumni who carry forward the spirit, resilience, and legacy that Pontiac Central instilled in its students. Through the Ottawa Chief Pontiac Heritage Historic Society, we honor that shared history while working to preserve the cultural and educational heritage of Pontiac for future generations.

We Are Pontiac
Northern Alumni

We represent the proud legacy of Pontiac Northern High School, a school that shaped generations of students and families across the Pontiac community. For many years, Pontiac Northern stood as a symbol of academic achievement, school pride, and community connection. Alumni from multiple generations—parents, children, and even grandchildren—share the experience of walking its halls and carrying forward the traditions that defined the Huskies. Through the Ottawa Chief Pontiac Heritage Historic Society, Pontiac Northern alumni continue to celebrate that legacy while helping preserve the history and heritage of the City of Pontiac for future generations.
