Our Goal
Protect • Preserve • Restore
The Pontiac Heritage Jubilee continues into Year 2 with a purpose that extends far beyond celebration.
What began as an introduction in 2026 has now grown into a committed movement focused on protecting, preserving,
and restoring the history, culture, and community landmarks that define the City of Pontiac.
In 2027, we expand our efforts—strengthening our impact, deepening community engagement, and advancing our
long-term vision of cultural preservation and historical restoration.
Restoration & Preservation Funding Plan
Central School – Pontiac, Michigan
Built in 1893, Central School remains one of Pontiac’s most recognizable historic landmarks. The building represents the early foundation of public education in the city and stands prominently overlooking downtown near Woodward Avenue and Pike Street.
As we move into Year 2, our focus shifts from awareness to intentional action and funding strategy.
Restoring and preserving Central School will require a multi-phase investment approach, including:
-
Structural stabilization and preservation
-
Historical restoration aligned with original architectural integrity
-
Adaptive reuse as a community-centered museum and cultural space

3M
Purchase & Protection
This phase focuses on preventing further deterioration and securing the building.
4M
Historic Preservation Restoration
This phase restores Roof stabilization and other repair.
15M+
Interior Rehabilitation
This phase restores the building’s original architectural integrity.
2M
Community Activation & Programming
This phase prepares the building for public programming and use.
