The Pontiac Heritage Historic Society was established to protect, preserve, and present the true history of the City of Pontiac while honoring the legacy of Chief Pontiac.
With the continued growth of the Pontiac Heritage Jubilee, we now enter Year 2—expanding our reach, deepening our purpose, and strengthening our commitment to the community.
What began on April 19, 2026, as an introduction has now become a movement rooted in respect, unity, and shared history.
In 2027, we continue the work of bringing our community together while intentionally welcoming Southern Mardi Gras Indians from Louisiana to Pontiac to reconnect, restore, and share the traditions, knowledge, and history that belong here.
We also continue to honor the families who migrated from the South to work in the General Motors plants—families whose legacy built this city and whose roots often trace back to Indigenous nations including the Cherokee, Chickasaw, and Choctaw.
